Love is… Tony & Sophé

February 3, 2012   By Emily Brown

For our first Ottawa love story, we are featuring Tony & Sophé who love skiing and art and after only 6 months of dating are “deeply in love and the sky is the limit.”  Keep reading to find out about their tense moment on Mont Tremblant, to discover what they did on their first date and to appreciate one of Sophé’s love poems!

How did you meet?

We started out as friends but there was always a deeper undercurrent of attraction. About
a year ago Sophé invited me to speak at an event that she was hosting. Six months later we crossed paths at an art opening, starting spending time together, and right away we knew we were onto something good!

What is your most memorable moment as a couple?

Our first date: This summer, I had emailed Sophé about going to a performance at the
Ottawa Fringe Festival, where she was volunteering. But she didn’t get the email and the show was sold out! I went to investigate a different show at a different venue—and in walks Sophé. Her volunteering shift was ending and we found ourselves a show to check out that night. It seemed like it was fated—and still does!

What is the biggest risk you’ve taken as a couple?

We got to the top of Mont Tremblant to ski on Christmas Day and there was a total whiteout—couldn’t see 10 feet in front of us—but we stuck together, braved the intimidating conditions, and eventually had a great day of skiing.

Love is…

Here we offer a poem by Sophé:

In your arms

Nestled in your embrace

The sound of your breath soothes me

I can rest
